Motorola Radio Feature

Late Entry

Late Entry is a feature available in some Motorola radios that allows a radio to join an ongoing conversation even if the transmission has already begun. This can be useful in situations where a user needs to interrupt a conversation or if they were out of range when the conversation started and came into range while it was in progress.

Example Scenario: A security guard team at a museum is using Motorola radios to communicate. Two guards, John and Sarah, are patrolling different sections. John spots a suspicious person acting strangely near a valuable artifact. He uses his radio to initiate a call with Sarah (pre-programmed group call or private call). As John starts describing the situation, another guard, Maria, who was on a break, comes back into radio range.

Here's where late entry comes in:

  • Even though John has already started talking, Maria's radio can detect the ongoing conversation using the late entry feature.
  • Maria can immediately join the conversation and hear what John is reporting about the suspicious person.
  • This allows Maria to assist John and Sarah by providing backup or raising the alarm if needed.

IMPORTANT: Late Entry is a digital feature. The Late Entry feature may not work on all MOTOTRBO operational system configurations. Please consult with your Air Comm rep if you are interested in this feature.
