What is Trill Enhancement?

At the heart of this feature is the recognition of a challenge posed by the AMBE+2™ vocoder, the industry-standard algorithm used in digital radios for converting speech into a digital data stream. While efficient, this vocoder often struggles with the precise reproduction of certain sounds characteristic of some languages, notably the trilled "r" sound found in Spanish and Italian. The Trill Enhancement feature is designed to counteract this limitation by applying additional audio processing to enhance the sharpness of trills, ensuring that these sounds are transmitted more accurately.

Benefits of Trill Enhancement

The primary benefit of Trill Enhancement is the substantial improvement in the intelligibility of voice transmissions for languages that utilize the trilled "r." This ensures that communications are understood clearly and accurately, reducing the risk of miscommunication in critical scenarios. Moreover, this feature operates seamlessly within the existing digital infrastructure, requiring no additional accessories or interventions from the user side. All users, regardless of the radio model within the MOTOTRBO series, benefit from enhanced transmissions, although the ability to transmit with enhanced clarity is exclusive to radios equipped with this feature.

Additional Information

This feature is supported in Digital mode only. Non-MOTOTRBO radios in the system will receive the
benefit of the enhanced transmissions; however, they will not be able to respond with a similar level of audio clarity. This feature is only beneficial to languages which include the Alveolar Trill such as Italian, Spanish, etc.
