Surveillance cameras deter crime and allow security teams to keep an eye on an entire site. Two-way radios keep teams connected and make operations more efficient.

Each on their own, security cameras and two-way radios are two powerful tools in keeping people and property safe. When unified, however, they become a game-changing combination that will help your team respond to security events more quickly and efficiently, so you can keep employees, visitors, students, and property safe.

So, how are these two powerful tools combined?

Motorola Solutions has created a way to connect their two-way radios to Avigilon cameras via the Avigilon Control Center. Radio users receive text and/or voice security alerts related to video analytics, license plate recognition (LPR), and access control events in real-time. This integration is called Radio Alert.

Here's a real-world example of how Radio Alert might be utilized in an education setting:Footage of suspended student vehicle

  1. An Avigilon surveillance camera detects an unusual event. In this case, it has used license plate recognition technology to spot the vehicle of a suspended student arriving in the school parking lot.

  2. Avigilon Control Center takes this information and sends a voice and/or text alert to designated MOTOTRBO radios.

  3. School security quickly responds to the correct location and vehicle using the information provided by their radio. They are able to de-escalate and escort the student off-premises before the student ever makes it inside the school.

Why are Avigilon cameras + Motorola Solutions radios such a powerful combo?

Be alerted to multiple types of security events:

  • Video analytic events, such as loitering
  • License plate recognition (LPR) events, as in the above example
  • Access control events, like an unauthorized badge scan or door breach
  • A more efficient and coordinated response: Because radios receive real-time alerts, security teams are armed with the information they need to tackle emergency situations and can easily coordinate for an optimal response.
  • With Radio Alert, there is no need to continuously monitor security camera feeds! This leaves security personnel free to actively patrol your environment.

Radio Alert is a powerful safety tool allowing a more focused, effective response to security threats and emergencies. Air Comm is proud to offer such game-changing technology. Reach out today to speak to one of our experts!
